The Significance of Number Eleven

Mrs Lim : Star, nowadays kids are rather smart.

Me : Ya , why so ?

Mrs Lim : Last week I was doing a report card review session with
my son, Eric who is in Standard Two.

Mrs. Lim: Boy ..... . show me your report card
WHAAAT?? har???
Why position 11 in class ?
What did I tell you? Don't fall below 10 right? But always aim to achieve 1
(Mrs Lim reaching for the rotan)

Eric : But mum wait..... you said aim to get 1, and mum since you like it so,
I got you two 1 (s) instead of one ( looking at his mum innocently).

Mrs Lim : *speechless*

Mr Lim : *grinning*

Result : Eric got away from caning, saved by an extra 1.

Haha.... . On the same token, do you have any number that give you the
special effects to it? As for me, I love the number (2).
As my chinese name ends with "yee".
A peace loving and easy going person? ** winks * *

HAKKA RIDDLE

Here is a simple riddle which Hakka-moi learned when small
She says her clan-folks also know it, this is all.

Ah gung gao, ah por ai
Ah gung orr ngiow
Ah por khai!!

Very easy, rite?

Have a cool weekend, everyone!

English Translation (added on 26/3/06)

Viva La Difference III - The Final Episode

Sometimes I wonder what we have so much to talk about
With all our differences and contrasts, for crying out loud
Friendship is a marvellous thing and I silently thank fate
For letting us meet and bond together, it's never too late.

Our roots are urban - south, centre and east
J.P.K. are the towns we go home to feast
Holidays and occasions they are always on our list
Home and family we can't help but miss!

Anyone who reads this will think it is funny
Believe you me , it's true but crazy
One of us is Hakka, another Hokkien
The other is Cantonese, the dialect we most comprehend.

When we stand to attention, it's like Do-Re-Mi
La Petite is at five two, anyone can see
The Beauty is tall at five and six
Duckling is at middle four, what a mix!

Food I like are always healthy and fruity
Moon usually prefers them hot and spicy
Star enjoys food that are preferably fried and crispy
Oh, and we all love Hokkien mee...black, gooey and yummy

One drinks tea - green, black, whatever kind she doesn't mind
Another loves coffee - the good black local Kopitiam kind
The other likes drinks that are either cold or icy
Medan Selera SS2 is our meeting place for ABC

One of us is a realist, very down-to-earth
Compare her to another who's a dreamer since birth
Yet another who believes in the goodness of everyone
When we get together, there's lots of arguments and fun.

To describe ourselves is not easy you know
Can sound quite unbelievable also with no pictures to show
But truth is stranger than fiction, as many will vow
My story's finito, adios now I take my bow.

The Strangeness of Love

I believe love is the strangest thing
touching your heart to make it sing;

It's hard to believe the joy it brings
till you walk on air, so it seems.

Love is enough to make you feel kind
then at times it tweaks your mind;

Sometimes it feels so well designed
but rarely can a person define.

There are days when love lifts you so high
other days you'd just rather die;

It sometimes makes you wonder why
but you don't quit and say, "good-bye."

Then just as fast it can make you see
you'd be a fool to think you'd leave;

Love is a gilded gift that we weave
then give our all the same to receive.

So, how can something feel so right
and fill your heart with such delight

Then show you all the doubts in sight
that won't give up without a fight.

Love is the strangest state you will see
but there's no place I would rather be!

Friendship vs. Love

Friendship is a quiet walk in the park with the one you trust
Love is when you feel like you are the only two around

Friendship is when they gaze into your eyes and you know they care
Love is when they gaze into your eyes and it warms your heart

Friendship is being close even when you are far apart
Love is when you can still feel their hand on your heart when they are not near

Friendship is hoping that they experience the very best
Love is when you bring them the very best

Friendship occupies your mind
Love occupies your soul

Friendship is knowing that you will always try to be there when in need
Love is when you will give up everything to be at their side

Friendship is a warm smile in the winter
Love is a warming touch that sends a pulse through your heart

Love is a beautiful smile to which nothing compares A tender laugh, which opens your heart
A single touch that melts away your fears
A smell that reminds you of the tenderness of heaven
A voice that reminds you of the innocence of youth

Friendship can survive without love
Love cannot live without friendship

Viva La Difference II - The 3 Contrasts

I'm just stating our attributes
So people please don't puke!
Ha ha ha......
(Now read on pals!)

I am slim and like to keep fit
Moon is small and very petite
Star is tall and so with it!

I like clothes that make me feel sexy
Moon loves casual wear and yet looks dressy
Star goes for fashion and dress so stylishly

My hairstyle's neither straight nor curly
Moon is having hers short and sassy
While Star is keeping it long and silky

Black of course, is my favourite colour
Green is what our dear Moon favour
and Red is always Twinkle Star's flavour

When we step out, all dressed to the nines
These 3 colours are usually what you'll find
Now I have penned the end of today's lines.

Viva La Difference!

Three different personalities, how did we meet?
Suffice to say, we once were colleagues
One fine day, at a coffee break
We met, said hello, and well, we just clicked!

How many cups of coffee we consumed
Yet nothing was taken for granted nor assumed
We bickered, we shouted and even made faces
Yet you can find us together in so many places

Each of us worked for a different boss
But targets were similar, profit not loss!
A dragon, a machine and a status seeker
They made our lives - oh, so bitter!

'Tis lucky we didn't feel very down
'Cos we all came from different towns!
Come month-end, we'd beat a retreat
Family power, oh, what a treat!

Then one by one, we left for greener pastures
Found work more suited to our given nature
We kept in touch and now here we are
Blogging together as Sun, Moon Star.
