Crushes

Crushes ... many of us have them yet few of us are keen to openly talk about them. Be it the offfice hunk we adore from afar, an ardent fantasy guy, a fictional character we have invented, a famous person or celebrity, or heaven forbid, someone who is known to us in real life; having a crush on someone unattainable is far more common than we think.

Romantic crushes that sweeps us off our feet and into our dream zone plays a pivotal role throughout our lives. They serve a specific purpose, providing us with the means to safely dream about someone else in the safety and comfort of our minds.

If I were to list and analyse my crushes todate (no, I'm not telling!!), I would see no consistency except for one factor: briefness. They are replaceable and they have a use by date, as soon as a more worthy person comes along.

This reflection has taught me an invaluable lesson in reality. Regardless of any emotional attachment, we are not immune from feeling an unexplained attraction for another person and making them our unattainable objects of desire.
